Forrester Releases Study Detailing Delta Air Lines Use of MotionPoint’s Website Language Management Solution

Forrester Consulting recently released a study examining the total economic impact and return on investment (ROI) Delta Air Lines realized by using MotionPoint’s Website Language Management (WLM) Service.
In late 2005, Delta Airlines restructured its business to lower its cost structure and dramatically increase its international business. This strategy included the addition of multi-lingual capability to Delta.com. Forrester’s study examines Delta’s decision to hire MotionPoint and quantifies this decision relative to the other options considered. The analysis uses Forrester’s “Total Economic Impact™” (TEI) framework.
Forrester’s study yielded these key findings:
Conclusions: According to Forrester, Delta’s decision to engage MotionPoint resulted in an ROI of 114% and an 8 month payback versus the other options Delta considered.
Delta realized many benefits unique to its MotionPoint solution. These included the reduced time and cost of implementing and deploying each individual website, reduced staff resources to support and perform updates to the site on an ongoing basis, as well as the language breadth of MotionPoint’s offering.
Additional Benefits: Delta also saw additional benefits that were not quantified in this analysis.
- Revenue impacts from the addition of multiple language sites
- Expansion of the advance purchase window (which increased by approximately 5 days)
- Low risk of implementation delay or cost creep resulting from MotionPoint’s fixed price/fixed delivery date model
- Flexibility to change the technical architecture of the primary website with MotionPoint seamlessly adopting the changes for all alternate language websites
- No synchronization delay – all language websites feature up-to-date features and promotions
While this study uses Delta Air Lines’ experience to model the MotionPoint value proposition, these findings are applicable generally across companies and industries. Other organizations can expect similar benefits from implementing the MotionPoint solution versus other options they might consider.
