MotionPoint SVP Reveals ‘Mobilegeddon’ Data at Talking New Media

Companies that followed MotionPoint’s best practices saw engagement improvements of more than 40% on their international sites, wrote a MotionPoint exec.

Google’s recent Mobile Friendly Update may not have conjured the web-ending “mobilegeddon” that many bloggers had feared … but it did make a big impact on international websites, writes Charles Whiteman in a recent post at Talking New Media.

Whiteman, MotionPoint’s SVP of Client Services, shared exclusive data with the publication. For instance: companies that followed MotionPoint’s best practices to prepare for the Mobile Friendly Update saw engagement improvements of more than 40% on their international sites (when accessed via mobile devices). Unfortunately, companies that didn’t follow the advice experienced far less positive results.

Google recently announced that more web searches now occur on mobile devices than on computers in 10 countries, including the U.S. and Japan. Mobile web traffic has also eclipsed traditional desktop traffic in several key markets.
