Years ago, RadioShack was revered for its electronic parts selection and expert staff. If the 555 timer IC for your Apple II went south, you could always find a replacement at the Shack.

But earlier this year – after 11 consecutive quarterly losses – the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. While this news shocked few, longtime admirers wondered: What happened to RadioShack?
